Kate Spade Yorkville Grand Opening!

Yorkville, Toronto. The most fashionable place in the city, home to hundreds of designers, boutique shops and restaurants - if you’re looking for a statement piece, this is where you’re going to find it. I was met with an exciting surprise today as I walked through the little streets to reach Bloor - Kate Spade has opened up a Yorkville location!

Today was the grand opening, what lucky timing! And I must say, I was impressed by this new addition. The shop captures the youthfulness and effervescence of Yorkville perfectly with all its big windows and bright colours. Kate Spade designs are always so colourful! I guess that’s why the motto is…

I just had to try on this purple dress and colourful spade necklace!

Sitting in the window seat, I realized again why I love Toronto. It’s such a beautiful, bustling city with the excitement of New York and the safety of Canada…perfect! There are so many gems, hidden and otherwise, that lie in this crown of Ontario, and I feel lucky to live so close to them.

Back in my own clothes, I hung out with the mannequins a bit, striking some poses like the best of ‘em and enjoying the air-conditioned reprieve from the 31-degree-Celsius weather. When it’s hot in Toronto, it’s HOT!

I love all the neon work in this store! It’s so festive and adds a really nice, retro feel. Maybe I’ll get some for my house and blog by the neon light. :P

HOW ADORABLE are these little coin purses?!? I’m in love. They’re so cute I could just eat them up! ;D Kate Spade’s summer 2013 collection has a lot of cute yummy treat-inspired accessories like these coin purses and the “FLAVORS” bag below.

Hey, remember what I said about finding a statement piece? Here it is! This “OFFWEGO” license plate is actually a clutch purse! It’s super cute and actually holds quite a bit. I’d love to style this with a bright red dress and big black sunhat.

Alright, as the purse says, off we go! What an awesome grand opening. On the way out of the store I noticed this sign below that says, “See you later New York, Hello Toronto!” That’s right, Toronto is where it’s at. Welcome to Yorkville!

I had an amazing time today at Yorkville’s new Kate Spade. Next time you’re in the area, be sure to drop by and check it out! There’s something for everyone in this gorgeous shop. What’s your favourite piece in the summer collection? Be sure to leave a comment and let me know what you think!

Monochrome vs. Sunset

The sunset in Austria provided a stunningly colourful backdrop for my monochrome outfit. This look is inspired by the 60s, a carefree time of loose clothes and epic music. Paired with black wide-leg jeans, this vintage striped top is so comfy and perfect for an evening up in the mountains!

Belle in the City - Beauty and the Beast Cosplay

Sage as Belle

Beauty and the Beast has always been my favourite Disney movie. Belle was the feistiest princess back in the day (before Merida and Rapunzel in the recent years), and she didn’t fall for the obnoxious Gaston. She was also the smartest, always reading and having her own opinions and wanting more from life than she could get from her poor provincial town.

This past weekend I had the opportunity to cosplay Belle for a Disney party. Naturally I went downtown early to snap these pics of my costume before it got dark! Here they are: Belle in the City.

The Most Epic Rainbow Cake

Rainbow Cake

What better way to unwind from a long week of work than to get together with your girlfriends and bake a rainbow cake? I’ve always wanted to try one of these beauties, and today I finally got to taste the rainbow.

DSC04087 DSC04103 DSC04110 DSC04148

The final product! We added sweet candy lips and two flavours of marshmallows - rose and toasted coconut. Holy sugar overload, Batman!DSC04170 DSC04176 DSC04178 DSC04180

Isn’t it beautiful?! *Proud*. I love the way the colours turned out, they’re so vibrant and cute! And while the cake itself was a bit too sweet (okay, WAY too sweet), I’d rate the experience a 10/10.

What’s the prettiest dessert you’ve ever made/seen? I’d love to hear about it or even see a picture! Leave a comment and I’ll choose a dessert to replicate!

Beautiful Vienna

Vienna, Austria’s largest city, is absolutely beautiful and so rich in history. The architecture is grand and reflects the high society that thrived there throughout history. Vienna, I miss you!

Xbox One - The Big Reveal!

xbox2

It’s finally here! The big news we’ve been waiting for! It’s been long enough, too - Xbox 360 has been out for 7 and a half years, which is an extremely long time for a gaming console. And with all the hoopla, Microsoft’s reveal event did not disappoint. Partnerships with the NFL and Steven Spielberg were announced, along with an incredible preview at Call of Duty - Ghosts.

I must say, I have never been drawn to the CoD games - until now. The new engine allows them to dramatically increase the quality of the graphics in the game, making it so much more realistic than MW3. Check out these comparisons!

As a computer artist and programmer, I am thoroughly fascinated that they could get the graphics this good. Now the test is whether they’ll translate to well gameplay (fingers crossed!!).

In addition to the cool partnerships and exciting CoD game preview, the console itself has some pretty cool features. Firstly, it has a clean and streamlined exterior, far simpler than the 360′s curves. It has full TV integration with a revamped new start menu that looks a lot like Windows 8 - surprise, surprise, Microsoft is building a UI network! Perhaps one of the coolest features is the voice control: simply say “Xbox On” and both the console and TV will turn on, right where you left off last.

“All in One” - a convincing slogan when you read all the features: Skype, satellite, social networking, integrated fantasy football experience (uh, I’ll have to see it before I’m convinced), web browsing, and TV apps all lie on a multi-tasking interface that works like a regular OS for your screen. Wow, that’s a lot to shove into one machine.

It all sounds ideal, and a console like this could revolutionize the way we approach in-home entertainment. But only the official release will tell just how good it is.

Here are some more sites with info on the release:

Did you tune in to the live reveal? What are your thoughts about the new Xbox One? Do you think it will be all it’s cracked up to be? Let’s talk about it in the comments.

Living LUSH

DSC03672

Walking through a mall, everyone knows where that alluringly sweet scent comes from. It wafts down the halls, calling shoppers of all ages with its siren song and promises of clean, natural beauty products. Once inside LUSH, we’re trapped by the Willy Wonka’s Chocolate Factory of natural products. Don’t know what I mean? Have a look for yourself!

DSC03622 DSC03629 DSC03617 DSC03628

You must be thinking…surely she bought something, and this post isn’t just pictures of in-store products?! Of course I did, silly! Granted I didn’t buy nearly as many things as I wanted to, mostly because I don’t take enough baths in the summer to warrant those beautiful salts and bath bombs. Instead, I opted for the BIG shampoo and Veganese conditioner.

DSC03677

DSC03675

DSC03682
BIG is a seaweed and sea salt shampoo that exfoliates your scalp (it feels soooo good), and leaves you with shiny, soft locks. And the Veganese continues the seaweed ingredient and adds hints of citrus for shine, a lightening effect in the sun, and a wonderful clean scent that lasts until your next wash. I had never tried these products before buying them, but I really like them and would definitely buy again. They’re perfect for breezy summer days and quick, cool showers!

What’s your favourite LUSH product? Let me know in the comments! :D
