Best of June

Happy July, techies! For Canadians like me that means Happy Canada Day! xo

trendy techie june recap 2013

This month was a big month for Trendy Techie! I gained a bunch of followers on my new Bloglovin’ account, and made an online collage of my pics on tumblr!

I kicked off the month with Holt Renfrew’s epic 60% off Spring Designer Sale, where I got this awesome Little Futuristic Dress by Milly.

I dared to dream and climbed up high on a fire escape wearing my comfy rock and roll look!

I ate some DELICIOUS and BEAUTIFUL macarons and experimented with the focus on my camera.

Then I went back in time with a retro dress from Fashion Crimes and explored my role models and who I want to be as an influential, modern woman.

June also brought the beginning of summer, and what better way to start the season than with a carnival?

After a few months without him, my boyfriend came to Toronto for a visit and we vacationed in my own city, staying at the Fairmont Royal York and the Westin Harbour Castle, and enjoying every moment seeing Toronto like the tourists do.

The Redpath Waterfront Festival was a great reminder that Toronto has a fantastic waterfront! Our lake is not-so-little, and looks so much like an ocean.

We finished off the month with a great dinner at the CN Tower’s rotating restaurant, 360. The view of the city is breathtaking at night.

So techies, what was your favourite moment of June? What about your favourite post? Let’s reminisce together as we move into the heat of July!

The Bicycle Thief - Best Food in Halifax!

Every once in a while, food will leave me speechlessly scraping the crumbs off my plate. The Bicycle Thief, Halifax’s best restaurant, is incredible. I’ll just let these dishes speak for themselves.

First off: Ripassa red wine and fresh baked focaccia bread with red pepper hummus

The starter (and my favourite dish): tuna tartare with avocado and lemon aioli

Mains: Beef shortrib with sweet potato puree and seasonal vegetables

Saffron scallop risotto with fresh parmigiana cheese

Dessert: “Life-changing” (according to my waitress, and it’s so totally true) butterscotch caramel cake. Oh, my god.

Ever since my first visit, The Bicycle Thief has been my favourite restaurant in Halifax. It simply cannot be beat!

What’s your favourite restaurant in your home city? Let me know in the comments and I’ll check it out next time I’m there!
